GHOST ANTS

HOW TO GET RID OF GHOST ANTS: The Ghost ant can be found constructing nests for their colony’s in wooded areas under rocks, in tree roots and shrub roots and in the ground. Ghost ants can also be found in urban areas and can be found infesting homes, condominiums and any other structures where they can find shelter and food. These ants have become a major nascence and one of the most common places for them to show up is the kitchen.
Ghost ants will find many different ways of entering a structure. One of their favorites is through the electrical lines coming into the house. Other ways are through pipes, air conditioners, cracks around windows and doors and through the attic. If the Ghost ants target your home they will eventually show up in the kitchen where the food source is.
Using the proper materials and application methods we can put barriers around any structure today that will keep the ants and other insects from entering. These methods will also work with most existing problems too.
Dealing with this type of an ant infestation by spraying insecticides where you are seeing the ants or setting up baits on the inside of the house will not work. Addressing the problem like this is the old way of doing things and might give you some relief but will not get to the root of the problem. Today most of these type of ant problems can be eliminated from the outside of the structure much more effectively. All insects come from outside and today we have materials that are effective in dealing with most interior insects problems from he outside of the home or structure.
Ghost ants are associated with ant species known as tramp ants. They are widely distributed in tropical and subtropical areas worldwide. Ghost ants have also been spotted in isolated locations like the Galapagos Islands. In the northern United States the ghost ant establishes themselves in greenhouses and other warm locations as far north as Canada. Ghost ant infestations have been reported in many areas of the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
In the United States, the ghost ant is well established in Florida and Hawaii, and its range is expanding. In Florida, the ghost ant is mostly found from Miami to Orlando, although they have been seen as far north as Gainesville, and Duval County.
